Buster's New Look

Picture

View from the front.  Joe applied the sticker with the asistance of his trusted helpers...Max, Tina and Randy (Uncle Lloyd's friend from Ohio).  All of this work was done in the alley/street behind Uncle Lloyd's house in Titusville, Florida.  We parked here for the week, in anticipation of the Space Shuttle launch on February 24, 2011.  The launch went off successfully, and we got to see it!  We also have plenty of time and space to work on Buster.  Below is the back view.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

We have an amazing design for the stickers for Buster and will be applying them in "phases".  The talented Austin Baum and the folks at Addisigns are working on them.  Of course, we love Buster just the way he is, but we do hope to get some mileage out of our time on the road (pun intended)!!!  So to start with we'll be putting the IYT logo and taglines on the back of Buster where people will have the most time to read.  We'll post some pics as soon as we get 'er done.

Buster is getting a face lift

This is a "before" picture.  We are working on getting Buster a little "spiffed up" on the outside.  Our friends at PlanetGraham Design and Addisigns are helping us to add some eye pleasing decor and "advertising" to Buster so as we drive down the road people will see what we are all about!   When we leave Tucson in late September 2010, we'll hopefully be sporting some Investing Your Talents logos and who knows what else.

Buster lives

We know it's been a while, and we received a LOT of suggestions for naming the bus.  Thank you, thank you!  So, because we wanted a name that is endearing, and practical...think "how's Buster running these days?" or "meet you back at Buster at 3" or even "Goodnight, Buster!"...we have taken to calling the Big Red Bus:  BUSTER.   So, Buster it is.  It was pretty much unanimous.

Just for fun, some of our favorite suggestions:  A-Team,  The Red MOTH (ministry on the road),  Gloria, Beulah, EvangeBus.

Here's a picture of Buster visiting Mt. St. Helens.

The Big Red Bus needs a name!

First things first!  Before I post some more pictures of the bus, we need some name suggestions for the bus.  The "big red bus" seems like an appropriate name.  Afterall she is "big" and she is "red", but we think she needs a more personal endearment.  So, please comment with any suggestions!

The "almost" finished product...

Picture
Kitchen with refrigerator and microwave.  Open shelves (with rubber shelf liners, of course).  We painted the old refrigerator with green chalk board paint but haven't tried chalk on it yet.  I've had these shelf brackets for about 10 years and we are finally using them!  We're cooking with an electric skillet and the microwave, and we're still looking for the right outdoor grill.  We just got a french press coffee maker (on the advice of the McCarthy's), along with our Stevia, we're ready to go!

The black bead board and countertop remind us of home :)  You'd think we have cabinet makers in our family?!?!

Our dining room...and computer desk (for now).  Looking for another desk-type thing to put the computer on.  The table was on the bus already, with cupholders built in!  Grammy Barb made the new cushions for the bench.  Aren't they great?  We added a storage bench to the other side so you can sit facing forward or backwards.

The computer sits here for now, either screwed into the table or clamped down.  We have a wi-fi hub so all of our computers can be online at once!   We're doing our best to stay connected.

Below are pics of the kids bunk areas and the bathroom/closet.  This bus used to be a 12 Sleeper Entertainer.   Each bay had 3 bunks.  The kids each have a top bunk and an area beneath for their stuff.  We removed the bunks in the bathroom area to make room for a shower, vanity and closet.

The Master bedroom is in the rear.  It sits above the engine (varooooom) and we were given a very comfortable mattress set by our friend, Ellen!  Thanks Ellen!

A special shout out to to Barb, my fabulously talented mother-in-law, for all of the sewing projects she did to make our bus our HOME!
